About Faringdon Lodge

Faringdon Lodge Residential Care Home caters for elderly clients living with dementia, and is registered with The Care Quality Commission for 28 Residents. The home is owned by T.L Care (Havering) Ltd, a local family run business, who also own Meadowbanks Care Home in Upminster, Essex. The home has a number of en-suite bedrooms, as well as two separate lounges with dining areas and a conservatory. There is a large south facing garden with seating areas and a large gazebo.

Romford and Harold Wood main line stations are a bus ride away and the care home is easily accessed by a number of bus routes. It is very close to Gallows Corner Roundabout which is on the A12 route from London to Chelmsford.

There are local shops nearby as well as a number of superstores such as Tescos, Next and Argos. There are also local pubs and a number of parks. Faringdon Lodge is fortunate to be located next to a large green area which may be used for residents to go on escorted walks during the summer months.

For more specific transport details please see the Manager who will be more than happy to help with your specific route.

Care at Faringdon Lodge

Faringdon Lodge caters for both private and local authority funded clients of both sexes over the age of 65. All prospective clients are fully assessed prior to their arrival, and following that there will be a four to six week trial period. The home does not offer nursing care, however the District Nurse will visit the home when required. Clients are cared for by trained and fully vetted staff, and the company focus on ensuring that staff are kept up to date with the latest dementia awareness training.

The focus is on maintaining independence, and encouragement is given to clients to participate fully in their admission, proposed care plan and the running of the home. This will be by way of regular residents’ meetings and one to one communication. Families are also encouraged to participate and we include them in the regular charitable fund raising activities that we hold. All monies raised will be sent to charity and not held for the residents’ activities.

The aim is to make Faringdon Lodge a ‘home from home’ and clients and their families are encouraged to make the bedrooms as personal as possible with photos, pictures and a special piece of furniture (subject to fire regulations).

Faringdon Lodge understands that meal times are an important part of the day and therefore we aim to make this an enjoyable experience for all our residents.

Breakfast will be available at whatever time the resident requests it, be it at 5am or 11am. Regular hot and cold drinks as well as snacks and fresh fruit is available during the day. Although the main meal of the day is usually served at lunch time, it may also be served in the evening should the client request it. At tea time there is always a hot and cold choice of meals, however, clients are free to make another choice should they wish to.

Links have been forged with the local community, including schools, churches and places of worship. Regular external entertainers visit the home, and where possible trips are made to local shops and places of interest. Regular theme nights are held (Indian, Chinese, Mexican) as well as quiz nights with cheese and wine. In the summer we hold a fete and barbeque.
